here’s my review of the new kanye west album “yeezus”. i think kanye has a lot of interesting and thought-provoking things to say about race and racism on this album but i’m disappointed but not really shocked to see that his songs continue to be really sexist and misogynistic. while kanye talks about being disrespected by white people he repeatedly talks about women as if they’re disposable sex items which is really exhausting. there are a few songs like New Slaves where i can overlook the sexism because the dominant message is so strong that i think the song still deserves to be heard but there are other songs that i find really bad/gross and i don’t even think those are worth listening to.

sierra here with a First Impression review, which means i’m going to review the product while i try it for the first time. to keep with tradition, i’m going to review a product that i almost never like: green tea. i don’t remember the brand of tea bags these are and i’m definitely not getting up to check. here we go. i heated this water up way too much and didn’t let it cool so holding the cup is burning my hand. are you supposed to put milk in green tea? i know people put milk in other types of tea. it doesn’t matter because like i said i’m not getting up. i think this has been seeping long enough. down the hole we go.

oh shit this is actually really good. the first time i ever had green tea was in second grade and i didn’t like it, then i had some starbucks green tea three years ago and didn’t like that either, and i’ve been very wary of trying green tea products ever since. the only green tea i liked prior to this one is lipton green tea with citrus, which is a cold, bottled tea that nobody else likes. this one would actually taste great with citrus. there are some oranges in the fridge but what i want is a lemon. let’s move on. this is the first good, hot green tea i’ve ever had. we’ve made history live on this review blog that less than 50 people read. i should probably go see what brand it is since it’s actually good. wait here.

OKAY!! it’s called Benner Green Tea Original. they have a flavor that has lemon and i’d be really interested in trying that one. this one is great though. it has a really subtle flavor and doesn’t taste gross at all which is a great review from me considering how i feel about green teas. does anyone know if just drinking tea is as good for you as drinking water all the time? tea is just hot water with leaves in it. leaves are great for you because they’re green. overall i’d give this green tea a 9/10. it’s almost perfect but i wish it had a little more flavor.

god pale ale is awful. it’s not fair of me to review these beers when i bought two pale ales knowing i think they’re disgusting.

anyway. i bought one nice bottle of sundog beer and one bottle of two hearted ale while in grand rapids because they had a dog and a fish on the bottle, respectively. the animals were enough to convince me. here’s my review. the sundog beer wasn’t unbearably bad but it was bad enough that i only took four drinks of it when i was already high on marijuana and then i couldn’t even finish the cup. not even marijuana could save that beer.i’m drinking the two hearted ale right now with some minty chocolate cookies and they do pair together well but i wouldn’t buy this beer again because iT TASTES BAD!!! i don’t know enough about beer or flavors to describe them very well but this tastes bitter and i don’t like it. GOD I CAN’T DRINK THIS ANYMORE. that’s my review. the sundog beer was a lot better than this two hearted ale one. i wouldn’t buy either of these again buy maybe if you like pale you should try sundog but i wouldn’t recommend this two hearted ale to anyone no matter what they think they like.

here’s my review of les miserables. i thought the beginning of this movie was really good and really interesting and it held my attention and the music was catchy and the acting was powerful and the characters were interesting. some time between when what’s her name died and when we started following her stupid daughter’s plot line i stopped caring about this movie because it got boring and now i’m bored of it. i have a headache. i’d rather go to bed than watch the rest of this movie so i’m just going to read the plot on wikipedia to find out what happens and then go to sleep.

here’s my review of some pizzas i’ve had so far in michigan. last week we got pizza from Hungry Howie’s and it was a normal round pizza with pepperoni and green peppers which is how i like my pizzas. it wasn’t great. it was very thin and the green peppers tasted strange and didn’t seem as if they had been cooked all the way. after the two slices i ate, i didn’t want to eat any leftovers from the rest of the pizza. they had pretty good cheesy bread though.

today we got pizza from Jet’s and it was a cute little rectangular shape. the pizza itself was much better than hungry howie’s and it was also a lot thicker. thin crust is for garbage people who don’t know anything about how pizza should be eaten, imho. the cheesy bread from jet’s wasn’t amazing, though. it was kind of hard. i like a soft one. i’m not crazy about cheesy bread in general because it’s hard to get a good one. i like a breadstick, though. overall i would give my meal from hungry howie’s a 5.5/10 and my meal from jet’s would get a 7.5/10. :]

The first summer that I ever went to Grand Rapids to stay with friends, we went to this nice little place called Martha’s Vineyard and got a bunch of nice snacks and sodas. I tried a brand of soda called Dry Soda, which sold really weird and cool flavors and I’ve been wanting to try it again ever since, but they aren’t sold anywhere near where I live. Since I back in Grappies this weekend, I naturally made two of my friends and I walk over a mile uphill to go to Martha’s Vineyard again. Once we got there, though, they didn’t have as many choices of Dry Soda as I had hoped, but they did have lavender and rhubarb, so I got those. I also got Stewart’s Grape Soda because it looked really good too.

I was really excited about trying the lavender one again because I thought that one sounded the nicest. It was a really nice light soda, but not the nicest. It was only slightly flavored like lavender. It really just kind of tasted like carbonated water that maybe some lavender had fallen into by accident. Flower water. It wasn’t bad flower water, though. I would buy it again and drink it on a hot summer day because it was light and refreshing and tasted pretty good. It tasted much better in the bottle than when I later poured another bottle over some ice and drank it that way. It tasted pretty bad that time actually. I’m not sure why. Maybe because every carbonated drink tastes worse poured over ice as opposed to right out of a cold bottle, if i’m not wrong.

After my mundane experience with the lavender soda that I had been really looking forward to, I was wary to try the rhubarb flavor, so I carried that and two other bottles of soda with me all the way back to the festival in a ripped brown paper bag and sat on the grass with my friends a few feet away from some protesters at the festival who were holding big signs about how God hates everybody and their sign spelled out AIDS in big red letters, which was cute, I guess. I did drink the rhubarb soda while hanging out there and I liked it a lot better than the lavender one. I’ve never had a rhubarb before so I didn’t know that they were weird little vegetables with big green leaves. The soda tasted sweet with just a little bit of bitterness and was really good. I thought it tasted like a really good wine, actually. It was really rich but still light at the same time, and sweet but not disgustingly sweet. I know very f*cking little about wine, though. I’ve had maybe three wines. Four if you count this soda.

The other soda that I tried was Stewart’s Grape Soda, which came in a cute bottle so I wanted it. I don’t have a ton to say about this soda because it just tasted like a really good grape soda. It was maybe the best grape soda I’ve ever had but I’ve had less than a dozen in my life, probably. It was really good. It tasted like grapes and it was deep and strongly flavored. It didn’t taste like real grapes, it tasted like purple grape flavoring, but I still liked it a lot and I’ve never had a grape soda that didn’t taste like that. I’m not crazy about grape soda. I’d buy Stewart’s Grape Soda again and that’s probably the only time I’ve ever wanted grape soda more than once.

I had a cool time with my cool sodas and I would buy them all again. I would give the lavender one a 6/10, the rhubarb one an 8/10, and the grape soda an 8/10. i liked the rhubarb dry soda the most but i’ll give the stewart’s grape soda the same score because it was really good for being a $1.80 bottle of grape soda.

I spent the whole weekend in Grand Rapids, MI and tried a bunch of things that were new to me and some things I had tried before but forgotten about and I’m here to review them. I’ll break them up into separate posts to avoid making one gigantic one.

On Friday my friends and I stopped at a really cute little apple orchard called Robinettes. It was also a vineyard and winery so there was a lot of cool stuff to eat there. I got two weird sodas and a snack. The sodas I got were by a company called Mr. Flavs which I had never seen or heard of before and they came in these crazy little bottles which were made of clear plastic but had metal can lids on top.

I got the apple flavor and the peach mango flavor because they sounded the most promising to me and I’ve been on a peach kick lately. I should have learned from that mango and peach tea that I had earlier this week. The peach mango flavor of Mr. Flav soda is absolutely awful. It tastes pretty good at first because all you get is the peach flavor. I took a sip of it and said “Wow, that’s really good” out loud and then the rotten mango aftertaste kicked in before I even had time to sit my bottle down (are these bottles with pop-tops or cans with clear plastic bodies? not sure) and I said, “Nope, nevermind”. I should note that I described the taste of the mango here as rotten because after my reaction, my friend took a sip of it and said it “tastes like rotten fruit”. I agree. If it had been just peach it would be really great. It’s a shame how it turned out.

On a more positive note, I did the apple flavor. It managed to taste like green apples without having a really chemically, bitter flavor the way a lot of clear apple sodas do. It had a pretty subtle apple taste, and I’m still not sure whether that was a positive or negative aspect about it. It was a little bit too subtle, even though it was still pretty decent. I wish it had been more flavorful, but I did still like it.

I’m a huge sucker for cool, weird little drinks and these really caught my attention! I really didn’t enjoy the peach mango flavor, but since it did have at least a little bit of nice peach flavor, I’ll give it a 2/10. The apple flavor was pretty good, but not the best thing ever, so I’ll give it a 6.5/10. I would buy that one again, I think. The cookie I got was good too. It had m&ms in it. If you’re ever in Grand Rapids I think this is definitely a nice and cute little place to stop for a snack.

Here I am again with another review. This time I’m reviewing a tea. I never drink tea so don’t expect me to know anything about it. The one I’m drinking right now is Lipton White Tea with Island Mango and Peach. I haven’t looked it up but I think an island mango is like a normal mango. I tried this tea while it was really hot without any sugar and it wasn’t great but then I put three packets of sugar in it and it was better. It wasn’t amazing, though. It was Fine. I drank half a cup of it and then I put ice cubes in it and I’m drinking it now as iced tea and I like that a lot better. It’s a lot better cold than it is hot, and much better with sugar than without. Also make sure you don’t leave the tea bag in the cup for like an hour because it’ll get way too concentrated and then you’ll have to dump half of it out and fill it back up with water. I wouldn’t say it tastes very strongly of mangoes, but it does taste like peaches, which i like. It’s a very light and sweet tea. On a scale of 1-10 I’d give this a 6 if it’s prepared the right way. I would drink it again and I probably will because there’s still a lot of the little pyramid tea bags in the cabinet.

Sierra here with my first review on what is ultimately going to be probably the best review blog of all time. Today we’re going to review the flight I took yesterday from Baltimore to Detroit. It was a Delta Airlines flight which I’ve never taken before so this is almost like a first impression review. First of all, I got a window seat but it was way too cloudy to see anything, so what’s the point? That already annoyed me and I feel like the airline definitely should have gotten rid of the clouds so I could see the ground. Second of all, there was no free wifi on the plane, so not only did I not have anything interesting to see out of the window, I also couldn’t check the internet unless I wanted to pay $6 an hour, so instead I played Angry Birds offline, which wasn’t even a good game. Let’s move on to the big boy issues with this flight though. Like myself, I suspect that many of my readers who fly a few times a year really enjoy getting the little sodas or juices in plastic cups with ice and a little pack of pretzels. I love that. I get it every time I fly. I’m all about complimentary refreshments. I was all ready to take an annoying picture of my Angry Birds game, pretzels and soda, except for the fact that the fucking flight attendants SKIPPED OVER MY ROW!!!! They offered the refreshments to the people behind me and the people in front of me but not to me or the dude next to me which really pissed me off but neither of us said anything and the flight attendants didn’t even make eye contact with us. That really does annoy me. I’ve flown eight times in the past three years and that was the first time that happened to me and I blame it on the fact that I flew Delta. Another thing now. About halfway through the flight, all of the air conditioning things came on full blast at the same time and cold air also started pouring out from floor vents by my feet which was really fucking cold because I had on sandals and it was so uncomfortable that I had to shove my feet underneath the seat of the girl in front of me for like ten minutes until they shut it off. I’m taking a United flight home because they’ve always offered me refreshments and they aren’t really cold although they did put me on on really scary tiny airplanes last time I flew and I thought I was going to die. Overall I would rate my flight yesterday a 4/10, and they only get those four points because the flight was only $80.
